A Weekend Adventure

Well, time for another vacation. Unfortunately I just got back from one. Yup, Diana and I went to Chicago for a long weekend. We had a great time, despite the fact that the weather turned just as we got there. That very night was a huge thunderstorm and the next three days were extremely cold, in addition to that wind that the city is famous for. To compensate we imbibed some medicinal alcohol. Just a little.

Friday was mostly spent eating ourselves into a stupor, so first thing Saturday we went to eat some more at the West Egg Cafe. We spent all day shopping and went to the Navy Pier to "unwind" (Ok, to have some drinks).
It was a very cute place called Joe's Be-bop Cafe and Jazz Emporium, with a great bartender, but it unfortunately closed at 11pm. Needing a bit more excitement, Di and I went back to the hotel to get tarted up and hit the hotel lobby bar.
Attracting male attention, of course. Three young men in black to be specific, named Ryan, Mike and Dave. We let them take our picture, but declined their kind offer to take us out for 100% beef hotdogs. Sorry, boys.
Sunday we hit the Art Institute for some culture and then the Whiskey Sky bar for some scenesters, and because it (the Skybar) had been too crowded on Saturday. Sorry this one is out of focus, yes, we had been drinking again. The view was what gives the bar it's name, but it was too foggy to get any good photos for your viewing pleasure.
It was a pretty early night on Sunday, but that was okay since Di wanted to head back to the Navy Pier for some souvenir shopping and more photos. The view of our fabulous hotel from the entrance of the Pier. Di thought the "W" wasn't quite big enough. (The blue tower is not part of the hotel).
Which meant I took more photos and did more shopping. Di gets really excited about the carousel, because...
There's a bunny on the carousel. I thought the dragon was pretty cool.
Our hotel was by the lake, which would have been nice had it been, oh about 40 degrees warmer. A life preserver at the Navy Pier, just in case we fell into the water in the middle of the night.
The Navy Pier at night.
